In my previous role at Qualtrics, I was the lead instructional designer tasked with creating an online, asynchronous course to train our partners and new hires on how to be an Engagement Manager. To complete the course, I worked with two subject matter experts over the period of one quarter and simultaneously owned project management of course development to launch on time. The course was the first launched for Qualtrics' XM Discover department.
TOOLS USED: Articulate Rise, Google Documents, iMovie, Google Slides
AUDIENCE: Qualtrics external partners and internal services department employees
RESPONSIBILITIES: instructional design, project management, graphic design, video editing
To kick off the project, I met with my stakeholders and SMEs to gain a better understanding of the course outcomes and background, as well as align on timeline and capacity expectations. I reviewed existing materials to prepare for my SME interviews. After each interview, I took notes and drafted my lessons in Google Documents, translating the SME's expertise into a more learner-friendly instruction. I sent my SMEs the lesson drafts and iterated based on their feedback. Lessons included text instruction, testimonial videos, animation videos, interactive graphics, and end-of-lesson assessments. The course was completed in Articulate Rise.
As instructional designer, I ensured the course was engaging and effective; I incorporated adult learning theory and instructional design best practices, as well as ensured the course was interactive. Once both SMEs provided their approval, I reviewed for any final edits and launched to our audience of 11,000+ external learners and 50+ internal learners.
The final course was developed in Articulate Rise and consisted of 8 lessons. To view a sample lesson, click Start Course in the below window.

This course had many moving parts to it: SME management, timeline ownership, content writing, video editing, graphic design, etc. Because it incorporated a variety of skills, I was able to grow my project management and instructional design skillset. It was also the first course in a series of Qualtrics' Discover department, so many processes were still being established, and I was forced to adapt as things inevitably changed while still adhering to deadlines.
